2:23 p.m. Words from The Record weren't the words I wanted to hear. Auntie decided to call me at work to tell me I have a letter from them and read it to me.

I didn't ask her to call. I wish she hadn't because my eyes welled up while I sat in the communal computer area at work. Thankfully my boss and the woman replacing me were in a meeting.

That leaves me with no job when I return, hopefully intact, from Cuba.

I took the risk and there's no point in regretting or fretting about it. Matt came over, made dinner and gave me a bit of a pep talk.

Mom told me to enjoy the week away and return fresh and ready to hunt a new job.

I could've stayed at the Lung for another week, but I wasn't really in a state to work there. I knew back in August that it would tough working till October, but I managed somehow.

This week was a joke as I spent more time tracking hurricane wilma and sending frantic emails to the travel agent than tying loose ends for work. I had today 'off' because of accumulated lieu time. Really, I don't think I had a full day and I'm sure my boss knew that my head wasn't into work anyway.

So Cuba. Wilma isn't supposed to hit Cuba directly, but based on the trajectory, Cuba's west coast will feel some effect of the hurricane. Florida is supposed to get hit Monday, which means we'll get some rain. Or lots of rain. Hell, I don't know what to expect.

We're supposed to call tomorrow morning to make sure our flight is still leaving in the afternoon.
