5:18 p.m. Giving a 2 weeks notice isn't as bad as I thought. I was more nervous giving my notice than I was during my interview. Ok, I was a tad nervous. I did talk with my hands. I do that when I'm self conscious. Then when I noticed that my hands were doing their flurry dance I stopped. The interview went well; I was pretty comfortable as far as being comfortable during an interview goes. I had the typical: tell us a bit about your experience and how it pertains to the job question. Only this time I blabbed and blabbed about my experience. Work. Volunteer. School. The works. At the end of my monologue, the VP smiled and said she definitely got a sense of who I am. I also told her about my 'less professional' work experiences: tree planting, serving, Goodlife, etc. There was one question that I totally blundered: what is the OLA's mission statement. I attempted, wingin' it actually, and stopped. I smiled and admitted I didn't know off hand. I went on to talk about what I did observe from the website, but I think she appreciated my honesty. When I walked through the door to tell my boss about my 2 weeks notice she didn't even give me a second to speak. She squeeled: you got another job! I nodded. She said she had a feeling. My boss was completely supportive and happy for me though she admitted she's sad to see me go. Needless to say I left feeling pretty good. n@s
